Former UFC Legend Mark Hunt, Trained by David Tua, Upsets Sonny Bill Williams Lanugo Under

Sydney, Australia (November 5th, 2022)– At Aware Super Theatre in Sydney, Australia, on Saturday evening, November 5, 2022, former UFC legend Mark ‘The Super Samoan’ Hunt, age 48, of New Zealand, trained by ex-heavyweight contender David ‘Tuaman’ Tua, shocking the boxing world with a fourth-round stoppage of previously undefeated heavyweight Sonny Bill Williams, of rugby note.
Williams, now 9-1, four knockouts, Sydney, Australia, started well and strongly, and had height and reach wholesomeness over Hunt, now 1-2-1. Williams had a major issue, in that Hunt came into the ring with an whoopee packed ferocity, and had a unconfined deal of power packed into his smaller muscular frame.
Midway through round four, Williams suddenly got jarred with a right to the jaw from Hunt which popped his mouthpiece out in round four, and while momentarily stunned, was unable to hold on and went lanugo from a left right combination. Williams got up, only to fall prey to power lefts and rights thrown by Hunt. Williams was sleek eyed on the ropes as Hunt landed a finishing power right, right, left, right and right combination, and Williams went lanugo on one knee for good without taking a beating. This was Hunt’s final ring appearance. It was evident from the finish Hunt and his gym trainer David Tua did their homework, and were well prepared to expose the 9-0 padded record of Williams.
Williams debuted in March 2009 in Brisbane with a second-round stoppage of Gary Gurr. Between 2015 and 2021, Williams did not box for six and a half years. In 2013, Williams won a 10-round visualization over a washed up version of one-time heavyweight contender Francois Botha. In 2015, Williams won an eight-round visualization over a washed up Chauncy Welliver in Sydney. These were the only two Williams opponents with winning records, and Hunt’s victory over Williams at age 48 was his first boxing win in four tries in his final ring appearance.
